A Prayer For Love

A Prayer For Love

While writing this prayer, I was in a place where I believed that my wrongdoings and sin would keep God from loving me. I soon realized, I was keeping myself from being loved. During that time it was hard to even love myself. I wrote this prayer for anyone that is battling with a situation similar to my own.

Dear Heavenly Father,

I thank you for the abundance of love that you give and show on an everyday basis. Your protection and love is a warm blanket for insecurities. You watch over us with pure gentle eyes, gleaming into our souls, hoping we realize your love. If you are reading this, I pray that you accept where you are and understand the plans that the Lord has for your life.

Lord, I ask that you remove any doubt, pain and fear from our hearts that makes us believe that we don’t deserve your love. Your word states that love is patient and love is kind, and every day of every minute you prove that time and time again. Lord, thank you for your healing, forgiveness and your unconditional love.

Father, help us to understand that your love comes with forgiveness and supersedes the expectations society presses upon us. Give us the courage to fight whatever is holding us back from receiving your love.

Heal us from the inside out giving us the prescription we need to love ourselves, as well as, the permission to love you back. Help us release any spiritual demons that are holding us back from your perfect unfailing love and help us to understand that your love is different. Genuine. Pure. It’s not temporary and failing, but endures through everything. Your love keeps going even when we fall short, so we give you all the glory, honor and praise.

In Jesus Name,
Amen

Love is patient and love is kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. -1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NLT
