The Greatest Love Of All

The Greatest Love Of All

I was recently at an event hosted by Hillsong Church called the sisterhood and the preacher for this event was Pastor Alex Seeley. She preached about love and her message was from John 13:34 – 35 which says,

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

One of the points she made was that we should let love be the greatest act that shocks the world because this is how they’ll know that Jesus is on the throne. So no matter how many times you’ve been hurt, and even though the world tells you that you have every right to hate that person who hurt you, let this be the love that shocks the world.

What amazed me about this statement was that when we’ve been hurt and betrayed so many times, the last thing on our mind is loving the person that betrayed us. But that’s exactly what God did. He sent His son to live amongst sinners and then sacrificed Him for us even though we didn’t deserve it. Can you imagine ever having to sacrifice yourself or something/someone you love for someone who is undeserving of this? Because I certainly can’t.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

This just shows the amount of love that God had for us. I mean, who would willingly sacrifice their only son for someone undeserving. But that’s exactly what God did. He said that no matter what you did in the past, in the present, or will do in the future; and even though you feel that you are undeserving of my love, you are my daughter and son, and I will love you unconditionally.

John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

This is the kind of love that we need to portray so that people may see God through us. His love and sacrifice for us, stands today as the Greatest Love of All.

So no matter how broken, hurt or betrayed you may feel, let this love be the greatest act that shocks the world.
