The Call
Jesus answered and said to them,
“This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.”
John 6:29
Believing in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ
That He lived, died, and rose again
To free you from the bondage of your sin
To give you life more abundantly
To give you life for eternity
This is the invitation back to your first love
Acknowledging that a life without God
Isn’t the correct way to life
Trusting that His ways are better than yours
Turning away from sin caging you in
And turning to the perfect lamb of freedom
This is the call to repentance
Behavior manipulation is not what God wants
Don’t come to Him perfect, but broken as you are
For it is in Him that you are made whole
Because only God knows
What’s needed to mend you heart
So through the working of His Holy Spirit
He is picking up the pieces shattered
Broken by your past to create something new
As the light of His glory shines within you
This is the call for you heart
Worship Him in Spirit and in Truth
Living a life worthy of His sacrifice
Praise Him for what He has brought you through
Pray to Him about all the dealing for your life
For He cares about every step that you take
He longs to communion with you
To be so intimately close to you
That nothing or no one comes between you
This is the call to relationship with Christ
Not looking to culture or society for
Your standards of living this life on earth
But casing your eyes upon our best example
The example of Jesus Christ on how to live our lives
Respecting your body as the temple of God
Saving yourself for the one
Who will cherish and honor you
Glorifying God with you
Thinking on things that are good and noble
Guarding your heart against the lusts of the flesh
This is the call to holiness
Spreading the Good news
That Jesus has risen – paying the debt owed
Making God’s unrelenting love known
Not merely listening to but obeying
The Word divinely written to you
Allowing the mirror of the Word
To cleanse you from head to toe
So you can be more like Christ
Living a life worthy of His sacrifice
Following in the footsteps of His glory
As we unveil His never-ending story
This is the call to discipleship
Jesus is the perfect lamb
Who gave us the privilege to become
Children of God here on the earth
And citizens of Heaven
Let the whole world know
God is calling you to Him
Whether you answer the call is up to you
The Work of Jesus Christ is an invitation into relationship with our first love. A call to turn away from our sins and turn to Father God. A call to give our whole hearts to Him, to be holy (set apart) before Him, and to spread the truth of His glory. The Work of Jesus Christ is a call to bring you back to God.
